Over the past three decades of the Nillumbik Artists Open Studio program, artists and studio goers have enjoyed a beautifully rich and diverse tapestry of artistry. They have all contributed to the program, leaving traces of their very essence in the creative air that fills the lungs of the people that make up The Artisan Hills.
Amongst all of the AOS artists, the depth of storytelling through artistic practice is unique. Artists who have been in the program since its early days, to those who have joined us for the first time this year, all share an intrinsic quality; a connectedness to place and an openness to share and exchange artistic knowledge with the broader public.
We are delighted to welcome four new artists into the program this year, all of whom have wonderfully diverse practices and studio spaces dotted throughout The Artisan Hills. We also feature studios that have become iconic destinations, such as Pittard’s Studios, Creek House Studios, Dunmoochin and the Baldessin Press & Studio.
We are excited to announce that in 2018 a group exhibition will be held at Montsalvat’s Barn Gallery. The exhibition will run from 8th March until 2nd April 2018. This is in addition to our annual group exhibition at the Eltham Library Community Gallery, held in October/November.
A special mention must go to Nillumbik Shire Council, in particular the Arts and Cultural Development team, and all our generous sponsors, past and present, who have given us the opportunity to continue to do what we love.
We hope you can join us in celebrating 30 years of Artists Open Studios.
